August 29, 2009 not a huge red letter day in Doors history, or even if it should be considered Doors history, but it is the day the first Doors Examiner article was published with a rather clichéd title “The Doors Keep Breaking Through with New Releases“. Six years later and just over 1300 articles written, thanks to your readership and support The Doors Examiner marks its sixth anniversary!
In the past six years The Doors Examiner has covered everything from new releases from The Doors, appearances and performances by members of The Doors, Doors history, the influence of The Doors on new generations and continued interest in The Doors by writers, filmmakers, playwrights and artists. It was also the sad job of having to write about the death of Ray Manzarek.
As is the case every year, I would like to thank my readers and subscribers who have been VERY supportive of The Doors Examiner not only in reading but in telling your friends and passing the word along to other fans. Because of that The Doors Examiner has grown every one of the six years of its existence. Thank you! Because of your support The Doors Examiner has been in the top 10 of Examiner music writers since June of 2014, and for the last month has been in the top 5 music writers for The Examiner. As of this morning The Doors Examiner is the number 2 most widely read of Examiner music writers (The Beatles Examiner pretty much holds the number 1 slot, but if we try maybe we can get that number 1 spot!) Again, I thank you for your support.
Over the six years I’ve met and talked to some very cool people in the Doors world that are doing some very cool things and I look forward to seeing what comes next. The Doors Examiner has brought me the opportunity for a book publication of “The Doors Examined”, a compilation of articles from the first three years of The Doors Examiner. Maybe it’s time for a second volume?
As this seems to be getting a bit wordy and I hope not too maudlin, I just want to thank everybody again, readers and subscribers, people with article ideas, musicians, filmmakers, commenters and all the people who have made The Doors Examiner one of the coolest things of which I’ve been a part. Like Jim Morrison said, or rather sang once, “keep the whole thing going baby!”
Writing under the influence of Rock ‘n’ Roll!
