A few years back a group of dudes calling themselves the District Attorneys showed up on the Atlanta/Athens music scene with a collection of tunes loaded with psychedelic fuzz filled guitars, pop infused melodies, and a hint of Southern twang. Multiple EPs, and a full length album delivered catchy lyrics and infectious sounds to listener’s ears. Their music was revered by peers and critics alike as the band embarked on a non-stop journey of incessant touring, writing and recording then they took a break. As members went their own separate ways joining other bands starting careers and doing whatever else they were doing the District Attorneys faded away, until now.
This Friday night at Smith’s Olde Bar the District Attorneys reunite to say farewell. The original members will be hitting the upstairs stage treating the crowded room with a collection of their best tunes. Songs like the upbeat power pop “Confusion of Trust”, “Madison Row” and ”Splitsville” will get the crowd jacked up and singing along while the gungy “Worry About Your Health” and more than likely a cover or two will make for nice compliments. The District Attorneys always put on great shows which were high energy. They constantly swap instruments and give more than one band member the chance to sing lead keeping the crowd guessing what will come next.
Joining them for the evening are a couple of bands that are pretty damn good in their own rights. Athens’ Blue Blood will spread a psychedelic pop sound rolling through tunes from their debut record and Tedo Stone’s haunting vocals and fuzz filled guitar rock will kick things off. You will not want to miss either of these bands.
There you have it folks a night of music just for you from the District Attorneys as they move on into whatever is next for the band. If you dig good music then the place to be is Smith’s Olde Bar this Friday night. So come on out and support local music and a local venue.
