Clinton told viewers that they would show affordable apps that will give you the best Thanksgiving dinner ever. These apps are not only phone apps, but appetizers for prior to your meal. Many times while family and friends arrive, they are hungry, so they made Triple Threat Party Dip using spinach, artichokes, red pepper jelly and red bell pepper with cream cheese, onions and butter. They showed the Ember Range Smart Thermometer used with your smart phone to tell you when your turkey is done. Clinton later mentioned Spotify’s Time for Turkey app is a three-step method. First select weight of turkey, then select genre of music and third cook while listening to your tunes.
Mario and Carla made two different appetizers using the same ingredients: ham, cheese, thyme, puff pastry and green olives. Mario made Holiday Ham and Fondue Pastries, and Carla made Ham and Cheese Puffed Pastry Pinwheels.
Clinton told a story about Katie Stagliano, who founded Katie’s Krops. She began when she was in the third grade when she brought home a tiny cabbage seedling from school as part of a school project. This seedling grew to be a forty-pound cabbage. She thought about the families going hungry while she had a forty-pound cabbage. She donated it to a soup kitchen and got to serve it to all 275 guests at the local soup kitchen. The hugs and thanks she received were just the beginning. So her inspiration was to plant a garden, but her backyard was small. She went to her school, and they gave her land the size of a football field. So this fourth-grader got the entire school involved to plant and care for a garden on this land, and it was a huge success.
She heard from so many kids across the country and started a grant program to help start more gardens. Now at seventeen, she has 83-vegetable gardens across 31 states. The Low-Country Food Bank along with Feeding America can distribute so much fresh produce to needy families. Then Clinton introduced Katie to the audience and viewers. She helped Clinton make a Sweet Potato Soup. To surprise this impressive young lady, and the crew gave her a basket of garden supplies and he announced that the Walt Disney Company is donating $1.5 million to Feeding America.
Michael then introduced Bridget Moynahan, who plays Erin Reagan on Blue Bloods. She also wrote a new cookbook inspired by the series called The Blue Bloods Cookbook. They made Waldorf Salad Cups and sat at the long table and Michael put on a Tom Selleck mustache on this episode of “The Chew.”
