On today’s episode of the ABC hit show “The Chew,” the episode was titled “Upgrade Your Breakfast (For Less)!” The entire crew was on hand today; Clinton Kelly, Carla Hall, Mario Batali, Daphne Oz and Michael Symon, all to give their best breakfast ideas on today’s episode.
Daphne admitted that if she eats a breakfast of sugary sweets or carbs like bagels, muffins, etc., her whole day is ruined. In honor of National Coffee Day, several chains are giving away coffee today; however, Clinton made his own creation with Biscotti Iced Coffee spiking it with almond liqueur. Daphne then tried a hack that has been going around social media by making omelets in a plastic bag and putting them in boiling water. The crew seemed to like it, but Michael gave it a roaring no!
Michael then introduced one of his dearest friends, Bobby Flay. He believes that New York invented the brunch and has a show, and a cookbook called “Brunch at Bobby’s.” He used leftover croissants for the French toast, and made Almont Croissant French Toast with Almond Butter Syrup. They then played a game “What Would Flay Say?” As each member of the tasting crew named a food item, Bobby stated how he would make it better. His choice of lots of bacon on a grilled cheese sandwich was Michael’s favorite.
Carla then made a Falafel Waffle, and one of the tasting crew was the judge. She mixed all the ingredients together, and put them in the waffle iron. She topped it with an egg and tahini sauce, and it was an instant hit.
The next guest was Kevin Bacon, who questioned if he was invited because of his name. He brought a tray of flourless pancakes. Mario made him Egg & Cheese Tacos with Chorizo and Pinto Beans. Kevin likes it spicy and Mario made it, just as he liked it. Kevin discussed his charity called SixDegrees.org on this episode of “The Chew.”
