On today’s episode of the ABC hit show “The Chew,” the episode was titled “Devilishly Delicious Simple D-I-Y!” Clinton Kelly, Carla Hall, Mario Batali and Michael Symon, were together on today’s episode. Daphne Oz was on maternity leave after giving birth to hers and John’s son on October 21st weighing eight pounds and six ounces.
Clinton began by revealing that Halloween is only three days away, and he showed a video that Daphne sent revealing the name of her baby boy. She looked a bit tired, but was very happy. His big sister just loves him and wants to kiss him all day. She is twenty months old and her kisses are almost an assault, but his name is Jovan Jovanovic Jr., and he will be known as John-John. He is named after his Serbian father.
Michael then ranted about the recent announcement that bacon and processed foods cause cancer. He loves his bacon and anything meat. He knows that moderation should be used when eating everything and feels that the warning came with too much hype. He then made Deviled Egg Toasts that looked great and was an easy D-I-Y (do it yourself) creation.
Mario introduced a dynamic duo, Whoopi Goldberg and her daughter Alex stopped by. Whoopi agreed with Michael and loves her bacon and hot dogs. Alex spoke about her new show “According to Alex,” which Whoopi raved about because it is about people being nice to each other, unlike some shows of the same genre. They made a Grilled Skirt Steak with Black Truffle Vinaigrette and Mashed Potatoes. Whoopi also wrote another book called, “If Someone Says ‘You Complete Me’, RUN!”
Carla’s contribution to the DIY theme was to make a Chocolate Pumpkin Ice Box Cake that had Michael reeling with delight. A woman named Kelsey Meeks from New Orleans, Louisiana does something that just warms one’s heart. With much poverty in the area, and children whose family cannot afford to buy Halloween costumes. She came up with an idea to give out costumes to children. Her charity is called ‘Ween Dream. It is a non-profit that takes donated gently used costumes and matches them with children’s wishes. They go to schools and shelters and the smiles they receive are priceless. The audience all came with costumes to donate and put them in a big box to send to Kelsey.
Clinton introduced a mom named Chyna, who sent her daughter out to trick or treat with a supermarket shopping bag because she could not find her bag. So Clinton showed her how to make a DIY bag using a cereal box and decorations. The finished products were adorable and so creative on this busy episode of “The Chew.”
