On today’s episode of the ABC hit show “The Chew,” the episode was titled “Eat, Drink & Be Scary.” Clinton Kelly, Carla Hall, Mario Batali and Michael Symon, were together on today’s episode. Daphne Oz was on maternity leave, as they announced the birth of hers and John’s son on October 21st weighing 8 pounds and six ounces. Love and congratulations came from the entire crew, especially Mario who won five dollars each from Carla, Clinton and Michael for guessing the correct date.
They then revealed when each crew member found out who they were going to be for Halloween, as chosen by their fellow crew members. Daphne lucked out of this year’s costumes, and she surely must be thrilled. Clinton said that there was no way he’d be what was chosen for him, and he covered his face as he gave a few expletives. Carla was absolutely delighted at whoever gave her this choice. Mario turned a few shades of red when his was revealed, but gave his smile of approval and Michael went into gales of laughter and stated that it was not going to be pretty as this good sport pictured himself.
Clinton next showed some seasonal items, including three different spiked ice creams from Tipsy Scoop. The first was Spiked Spiced Pumpkin Pie, then Candy Corn Vodka Martini and last, Salted Caramel Apple Brandy. They loved the first, but the one with the brandy was the overall winner. Pumpkin Spice Ketchup, for which Michael asked to make the pumpkin spice stop. He feels that pumpkin spice belongs in pumpkin pie only. They even had Pumpkin Spice Twinkies.
Clinton brought out three girls to do pumpkin decorating; Katelyn, Sasha and Brianna each had a pumpkin and hundreds of crafting items and for the rest of the show, they will be decorating.
Mario answered viewers’ questions and made a scary delicious dish called 60 Cloves of Garlic Capon with Pumpkin Mash. Everyone loved this dish, although the title was a bit frightening. Clinton then demonstrated to the rest of the crew some more Halloween crafts to do. Inside a glass, they painted a scary face using melted chocolate and put in the fridge. In a blender, they made a boozy cocktail with whipped cream on top, spooky and delicious.
Michael made his Hungarian Ghoul-ash, which was a dish to die for! By the time the goulash was done, it was time to judge the pumpkin decorating contest. The tasting table members were the judges, and they voted for Sasha, who won a gigantic cauldron of Halloween goodies on this episode of “The Chew.”
