It’s that time of year again
The annual Strut Your Mutt walk is sponsored by Best Friends Animal Sanctuary. The event is held in 12 cities across the nation and is slated for Minneapolis on Sunday, September 13, 2015.
Registration for the annual event begins at 8:00 a.m. with the kick-off for the walk starting at 9:30 a.m. The festival takes place at Wolfe Park in St. Louis Park, Minnesota. The leisurely three mile walk (with or without your dog) includes events such as pet contests, photos, doggie goodies, food, refreshments and even fun activities for you and your best friend.
The event raises money for your favorite animal welfare group which is part of the No More Homeless Pets Network Partners for Best Friends. Exhibitors wishing to set up booths for the event can contact the Strut Your Mutt Website.

A Reminder About Best Friends Animal Sanctuary
Most of you are probably familiar with Best Friends Animal Sanctuary and their no kill policy. Most people are aware of the work done every day by Best Friends as they work diligently behind the scenes not only on a daily basis but in every catastrophic event that occurs causing animals to be homeless, injured or in need of rescue. One of the newest events supported by Best Friends is called “pop up adoption”. These quick events are set up across the nation in various cities using a vacant store to show the animals in need of rescue. So far 116 pets from shelters have found new homes because of these pop-up events. Many of the dogs are pure bred dogs that have been abandoned and need new homes. One such instance was a pure-bred Shih Tzu that needed a good home and its new owners were ecstatic to find their favorite breed ready and waiting for them.
Of course Best Friends is in constant need of help and supplies and any donations are appreciated. The various parts of the shelter from Dogtown to Cat World, to Horse Haven, Bunny House, Parrot Garden, and Wild Friends all need your help. There are, of course, the animal clinics, adoption centers and maintenance staff that all need assistance if they are to continue their work saving these helpless creatures. Every day they witness the joy of seeing a tortured and traumatized animal find a home whether it is permanently at Best Friends or with a loving family.
The Bible Says the Lion will Lay Down with the Lamb
In the Bible it teaches us that one day God will set up his heavenly kingdom here on earth. Then we will watch is awe as the lion lies down with lamb and all of nature is at peace. If only we could save all of the animals that desperately need our help to survive today. You can easily make a donation at the Best Friends Website. Every dollar is used to save those helpless animals who cannot speak for themselves but whose eyes show their longing and whose hearts ache for someone to love them.
