The competition was started by Apple in 2007 when it came up with the idea of a smartphone and hit the mobile makers with the biggest blow to their guts. Within a couple of years the feature phones were out of the market and companies that stuck to making them went out of business – Nokia is a great example. However, other companies soon accepted the challenge and landed in the ring with all the great intentions of bringing Apple down which was getting cheers from nearly every corner of the world. It’s 2015 and smartphones are everywhere. Which ones are the worthy ones this year? Let us find out:
1. Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge
Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge takes the cake this year. Not only specification-wise but Samsung puts to shame all the competitors with its unique curved screen design. This beat of a phone has 3GB of RAM on it with an Exynos processor that has 8 cores on it. It has a dual curve on both sides of the screen making it one of the most unique phones in the market. The pixel density of 577ppi on the super AMOLED screen has delivered the best display performance among all smartphones so far. It even came in some gorgeously unique Iron Man and limited Gold edition. So far this is the best phone in terms of specifications and looks.
2. LG G4
This phone might have a snapdragon 808 chip with 6 cores but this amazing phone has been optimized so perfectly by LG that it makes optimum use of its RAM and actually ends up beating Galaxy S6 Edge in opening and running applications in the long run. It is the phone with the most different shape in the market this year. It is really squared with sharp edges – you either love it or hate it. In terms of display this one stands next to Galaxy S6 Edge and shoulder to shoulder when cameras are compared. It’s also the only flagship phone of the year with a removable back, battery and a slot for SD card (up to 2GB).
3. Apple iPhone 6 Plus
Apple has finally jumped in the race of big screen smartphones this year with its iPhone 6 Plus. There is iPhone 6 without the plus but there are many benefits that the Plus version has over its smaller counterpart. This phone is big with a 5.5-inch screen and is the only iPhone with a pixel density touching the 400ppi mark. The technical specifications are not that worthy of mentioning. The highlights of this phone from Apple are its bigger display, better pixel density and of course a bigger battery to support the bigger display. Be careful with those third party keyboards this time.
4. Sony Xperia Z3+
It literally blew the minds of Sony fans in a negative way when they realized that Sony was not coming up with the ever-expected Xperia Z4. Instead Sony maintained much of what was there on Xperia Z3 already and with a very few improvements it unleashed the Z3+. It is there to compete with Galaxy S6 Edge with its processor with 8 cores but the snapdragon 810 chip was purposely ditched by LG G4 because of its overheating problems. Don’t be surprised if there is overheating issue with your phone but all in all it delivers the punch that is nearly as powerful as what other flagship phones of 2015 have delivered.
The 4 phones above are those that happen to be on top for several days now. The difference in cost isn’t too high, so based on features you can consider buying the one that you think is most appropriate for you. There are several websites, such as Couponcodefreeshipping.com and Theblackfridaysales.ca, etc. that offer help on buying electronics on discounts. Other than the smartphones listed above, HTC One M9, Motorola Nexus 6 and Samsung Galaxy Note 4 too score pretty high.
