There is still no premiere date for “The 100” season 3, but the announcement should come soon. However, there is good news for fans. Showrunner Jason Rothenberg has been busy tweeting small spoilers for the upcoming season. On Nov. 9, Ecumencial News revealed some spoilers, including the Grounders and Ice Nation.
One question all fans of “The 100” have is how some people survived. Rothenberg hinted that viewers may discover how the Grounders in particular managed to stay alive. As fans saw in the first season, animals were deformed and one seemed to be a hybrid of two different animals that should not mate. There were without a doubt, people who were left behind and those individuals must have suffered horrible injuries and had deformities affect their future children. Those that didn’t survive would have died in a horrible and painful way.
Did the Grounders have some special shelter that shielded them from th radiation? Did they wear something on their bodies to protect themselves? Or was it just good genetics and pure luck? One report claims that the Grounders survived by “riding out” the radiation. This had to have resulted in a lot of loss and the Grounders having to harden themselves. Not only did they have the radiation to live through, but imagine the chaos and destruction, both from the world itself and other survivors. It will probably explain why the Grounders are as unemotional and ruthless as they are. It was out of necessity and it just got passed down from generation to generation.
If this information is accurate, then “The 100” season 3 will probably dive into the backstories of some of the Grounder characters. One person in particular everyone is interested in is Lexa, portrayed by Alycia Debnam-Carey. Even though the Grounders live a certain way and hold on to a set of survivor beliefs, Lexa was a bit different. She seemed to be the most humane and emotional of the group. Even though she was the Grounders leader and had to make a difficult choice on the season 2 finale, it is clear she didn’t want to. Lexa simply had to do what was best for her people, even though viewers hated her for it.
Another spoiler for “The 100” season 3 is the introduction of Ice Nation and Queen Nia, to be played by Brenda Strong. It is rumored that the Ice Nation will be the new threat. Queen Nia’s character description states that she will do whatever is necessary to protect her position as queen. Also, Queen Nia nad Lexa already have a history of bad blood.
Christian Today had additional spoilers for “The 100” season 3. There will be new relationships, but don’t count on a love triangle between Bellamy, Lexa and Clarke. Even though some fans do want this to happen, supervising producer and co-writer Aaron Ginsburg said that they have a particular story they want to tell. They know fans want a love triangle between Bellamy, Clarke and Lexas. However, just because fans want something doesn’t mean they are going to get it. He told NY Castings,
“… we spend hours and hours and hours every week debating and discussing and brainstorming to find the most incredible way to tell our story. We don’t make decisions based on what fans might want (or don’t want or think they want). We make decisions on what is best for the story… On what the characters would really do when faced with these situations.”
Rothenberg sent out a tweet that indicated Bellamy and Clarke (Richard Harmon and Eliza Taylor) would spent time together in season 3. Some fans thought this was a romantic spoiler. However, his tweet didn’t confirm it was an intimate pairing. It might have just meant that Bellamy and Clarke might meet up again.
As fans remember from the season 2 finale of “The 100,” Clarke felt so much guilt that she left the group. With her continuing to appear in “The 100” next season, it only makes sense that Clarke and Bellamy (and perhaps the rest of the group) will meet up eventually. It doesn’t mean there will be anything romantic going on between Bellamy and Clarke.
Speaking of romance, the chemistry between Clarke and Lexa in season 2 could not be ignored. Even though Clarke feels that Lexa betrayed her, the two might end up connecting once again. Debnam-Carey said in an interview that both Bellamy and Lexa have feelings for Clarke. While some believe that this means the two could fight over Clarke, it makes more sense that Clarke will choose one over the other. Let’s be honest, the chemistry between Clarke and Lexa exploded through the screen. Although Bellamy and Clarke are good together, it seems to be more of a friend/leadership type of connection.
There will also be new characters in “The 100” season 3. In addition to Queen Nia, Rhiannon Fish has been added to the cast. Actor Isaiah Thomas, who plays Thelonious Jaha, confirmed the casting addition on social media. The Vine Report stated that Fish will play Ontari, who is only described as a “loyal, but deceptive” character. There are rumors that Ontari will be part of the Ice Nation group.
What do you think of “The 100” season 3 spoilers, casting information and rumors that have been reported on so far? Do you have any theories on what may happen when the show returns?
