“Teen Mom OG” star Amber Portwood proudly displayed her 36-pound weight loss at the wedding of her co-star Catelynn Lowell. Portwood, who lost 36 pounds in four months with a low-carb diet, looked slim in a body-hugging black lace dress.
Amber posted several photos on Twitter Aug. 23, here she congratulated Catelynn Lowell on her wedding to longtime boyfriend Tyler Baltierra. “We loved hanging out with your family,” Portwood wrote. “We had a great time with beautiful people. We love you guys.”
Also in attendance were “Teen Mom” star Maci Bookout with boyfriend Taylor McKinney, and “Teen Mom 2” star Kailyn Lowry and her husband Javi Marroquin.
Amber has been keeping up with her weight loss regimen after losing 36 pounds during the past four months. “36 pounds down and 15 more to go … almost at my goal,” Portwood tweeted Aug. 10.
Amber revealed she lost the weight by following a low-sugar, low-carb diet. “Cut out bad carbs like sugar and cut down on pasta to start,” Amber told fans on Twitter. “Try to not eat trans fats.”
Portwood also credited her fiance, Matt Baier, for helping with her weight loss by making breakfast for her every morning. “My babe makes me breakfast every morning … lucky gal,” Amber tweeted after posting a photo of scrambled eggs.
Overcame Drug Abuse, Suicide Attempt
Portwood has been turning her life around after going to jail on drug-related charges in 2012. Amber was serving a five-year jail sentence at Indiana’s Rockville Correctional Facility when she was released in 2013 after serving 17 months.
Portwood, 25, met her fiance Matt Baier, a 43-year-old aspiring poker player, shortly afterward. Amber and Matt hope to marry soon. Maybe Amber’s 36-pound weight loss stems from a desire to look fit in her wedding dress.
“My dream wedding, I know for sure, my cousin Krystal would be the maid of honor at the wedding because she’s the closest person to me,” said Portwood. “She’s like my best friend. And of course I want all the ‘Teen Moms’ to be my bridesmaids. They have to be a part of it.”
Amber previously admitted she was “always high” while filming “Teen Mom.” Portwood started doing drugs after appearing on the reality show “16 and Pregnant.” At the time, Amber said she didn’t care if she lived or died and attempted suicide by hanging.
“I didn’t care [if I died],” Amber told Dr. Phil in 2014. “If I woke up, great. If I didn’t, that was all right too. I knew the amount of pills I was taking was crazy. I had nothing anymore. What am I even here for [I wondered]?”
Authorities found Portwood unconscious, with a noose around her neck. After relapsing in 2012, Amber has worked hard to maintain her sobriety.
