SweetWater Brewing Company (Atlanta, Georgia) announced this week that they have signed with four new wholesalers to get their beers flowing throughout Northern Alabama.
The folks at SweetWater Brewing have been making a big push lately to reemerge once again as a regional brewing presence and powerhouse in the state of Alabama. SweetWater was one of the original craft breweries in our state when they launched here in the early 1990’s, and they introduced many craft beer fans to what truly amazing beer can be. Sadly, issues with a previous distribution situation caused the brewery to lose the proper representation that they deserve, and their availability and influence in the state suffered greatly for far too long. That all began to change back in September when the brewery transitioned to Bama Budweiser and Birmingham Bud for distribution in and around Birmingham, and now with expanded coverage “to include Blount, Cherokee, Cullman, Etowah, and Marshall counties (Birmingham Budweiser) and Calhoun, Cleburne, and Talladega counties (Bama Budweiser).” This relaunch with Bama and Birmingham Bud has been so successful that SweetWater Brewing has now added the following four more distributor partnerships for added coverage in the state: Turner Beverage Co. – Dekalb, Jackson, Madison, and Limestone (with the exception of the city limits of Decatur); Greene Beverage – Fayette, Lamar, Pickens, and Tuscaloosa; Valley Budweiser – Lawrence, Morgan, Winston, and Limestone (city limits of Decatur only); and Shoals Distributing – Colbert, Franklin, Lauderdale, and Marion.
“September’s transition to Bama and Birmingham Bud have already proven successful – we launched in Alabama in the 90s, but these new partners have gotten SweetWater onto more retail shelves and bar menus, and into many more craft beer lovers’ hands,” says Jeff Chassner, director of new market development for SweetWater. “Now with their expanded territories, and our four new phenomenal partners, Alabama is primed to be an incredibly strong market for us.”
SweetWater’s new wholesaler partnerships also come with an expansion of the beer lineup that will be flowing in the aforementioned Alabama counties: 420 Pale Ale and IPA will be joined by Take Two Pils, Hop Hash Double India Pale Ale and the current seasonal Catch-and-Release brew (Hash Brown India Brown Ale for fall; Whiplash White IPA for winter). Make sure to look for these delicious brews during your next beer run and take advantage of SweetWater Brewing Company’s very welcomed return to Alabama shelves and taps. Prost!
