Georgia loves people. She craves attention and when people talk to her, her ears go back submissively and her tail wags furiously. She is extremely sweet and gentle. The staff love to stop in her kennel and give her some love — because she returns it wholeheartedly! Just look at her adorable face. One Facebook post commented that it looks like she got into her mama’s makeup. She’s all pink and black and white.
But she is just one dog in a shelter filled with adoptable dogs. And even though she was at the Humane Society of Tampa Bay (HSTB) which is a no-kill shelter, she ended up being transferred to Hillsborough County Animal Services where dogs are killed when the shelter is filled and kennel space is needed.
Georgia is still a puppy (only one year old) but very calm. She does not appear to be a high energy dog. A foster offer would certainly save Georgia’s life and help her find a forever home. Please share her story with friends and family. This young, darling dog needs a home for the holidays — even if it’s just a temporary home. The song “Georgia On My Mind” is playing in the minds of many who have met her and are thinking about her and hoping she gets saved.
The volunteers think she’s a hound/retriever mix and she is heartworm negative, so she’s ready to go home with a lucky family. Georgia is ID# A30206848. There is more information about how to adopt or foster Georgia on her Facebook thread. She is located at the Hillsborough County Animal Services, 440 N. Falkenburg Road, Tampa, FL 33619. The phone number is (813) 744-5660. They are open every day from 10:00 am to 7:00 pm.
