Does Owen know he’s right at the precipice of death? He’s in a facility that kills using the heartstick method, and he could die at any time when his kennel is needed. His hold was up almost a week ago, so every day that Owen gets to live is a gift. But this sweet, overgrown puppy would be a great gift to any family.
Owen is just a puppy, more of an adolescent, really. He was found as a stray and never reclaimed. Whoever raised him will never get to see the soulful look from his light brown eyes. He’ll never be kissed by Owen’s happy, houndish muzzle.
The volunteers love Owen. One volunteer said:
He’s the most loving dog I’ve played with.”
Owen is heartworm negative, and he’s ready to go home with a loving family. What Owen needs is what any adolescent dog needs, training and consistency. He wants desperately to please — just show him how. But first he has to get out of this rural shelter where dogs are killed for space. Like every other shelter in summer, the kennels are packed. Please share his story!
His video shows an energetic, super-friendly, sweet puppy. There is more information on his Facebook thread about rescue, adoption, and free transport. You can donate for Owen’s medical care here.
