There will undoubtedly be a lot to swallow tonight on “Survivor: Cambodia,” and not just because it will feature the classic gross-out “local delicacies” challenge. But it looks like it is inevitable that someone will be leaving the game due to what CBS is calling a “family emergency.” Here is the official synopsis from CBS about tonight’s new episode:
Episode 6 – “Bunking with the Devil” – One castaway is pulled from the game due to a family emergency. Also, Tribes drop their buffs and switch it up for the second time, and castaways chow down on local delicacies in a classic immunity challenge, on SURVIVOR, Wednesday, Oct. 28 (8:00-9:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network.
Analysis. Fans that follow online Survivor groups know what might be about to happen tonight, but that doesn’t make it any easier to deal with. From what we can gather just by looking at the Episode Promo Video (above), we know that Probst arrives by boat in the middle of the night to the Ta Keo Tribe, and as the synopsis confirms, one castaway will be pulled from the game. We know it’s not Kass (as she is seen commenting on the situation) and a quick glimpse in the video reveals that it is a man…that leaves the unfortunate soul as being either Keith, Terry or Joe, and because the person who leaves seems to be wearing a shirt, you can almost bet that Joe is safe. Either Keith or Terry then, look to be leaving tonight, and all we can hope for is that whatever it was, that everyone ended up being OK in the end.
We also can assume that this person won’t be the only person to go home tonight. Because the synopsis also tells us we are in for another tribe swap, and the “family emergency” evacuation seems to happen before that. That means there will be much more episode to follow this early departure, and that we can all but assume that we will indeed see another Tribal Council tonight.
The “gross eating” competition is also on tap tonight and is always a joy to watch. Kimmi famously would not eat a brain during this challenge on Season 2, when she vowed to stay true to her vegetarian habits. It’ll be interesting to see how she handles the challenge this time around.
But back to the evacuation: Either person – whether it is Terry or Keith – will end up serving a blow to the alliance that we just saw evidence of last week. Kelley, Ciera, Kass, Joe and Keith seemed to be tight, and their plan was to keep Terry thinking he was in on things as well. While Terry leaving would be better for their group (they would have probably voted him out first anyways), Keith leaving might end up making them solidify for reals with Terry, so that they can keep their alliance strong at five. A looming switch-up – which I imagine will be a re-shuffling back to two groups of seven – could end up destroying this alliance if they don’t all end up on the same tribe.
