To save and give your fashions new life, try shopping in your closet. Bag up clothing to give to a charitable cause. How do you choose what to save and what to toss? First is the item worn beyond repair or revamping? If it is beyond repair save time and toss it out. Does the item fit? If it no longer fits and is gently worn give the item to a charitable cause. Try and on and imagine what could be new about it. You may not have looked at it for a long time.
Look at the item with a fresh eye. Put some things together not worn for a while. Am item found in the back of the closet was a Vera Wang dress from Kohl’s in the Village Square Upper St Clair store in the Pittsburgh south hills suburbs. Another found item was a white skirt from the defunct Crossing Point catalog clothing line. The fabric is a crinkle cotton/polyester/ blend. Crinkle is great. You never have to worry about being wrinkled. The wrinkles become a style providing texture. My top is from the Ashro catalog. The tie has a waistline slot which always makes the belted look stay in place. It tied in the back rather than tied in front. The collar is a modern portrait collar look throwing back to those classic graduation photos back in the day. It was originally from a holiday edition catalog and is revamped for summer to throw over any outfit to ward off air conditioning. It can move from day to evening.
The necklace was a big hit at Pittsburgh’s Grand Concourse Restaurant. It is from NY & Company South Hills Village in the warm peach color for spring and summer. It picks up the pale peach camisole from Charlotte Russe. The camisole was picked up on sale in the Century III Mall Charlotte Russe store. The straps are adjustable. Believe in comfortable shoes yet still look good. Featured shoes are White Mountain sandals. I believe if you find a truly comfortable shoe pick up more than one pair. Liz followed my advice and picked up a pair in black. I loved them and picked up a pair in black. Sometimes you may still need to kickback on the comfy couch at South Hills Village and kick off a sandal. The other featured shoes are Hush Puppies Soft Spots. They have a hint of gold alternating with the white strappy look. They can go from morning into the evening. The gauzy top and the glint of gold in the show give a bit of glam day or night. You could transition easily with this type of look. The shoes also have a sole that grips making navigating on a highly polished floor a breeze.
When you visit South Hills Village take a break and enjoy the new comfy chairs at the mall. Kick back and check your Smartphone. July is a great time to revamp and rev up your summer wardrobe. Enjoy your summer shopping experiences. Do not fear mixing the new with the old and moving items from one season to another.
