Summer is one of the best seasons to be in New York City. Once the sun comes out, so do the skirts, sundresses, and suits. When the sun is shining and people are less dressed, dating and mating season begins. While some people use the summer to play around, others are looking to settle down. People who are looking to date are out in full force and it creates the need for ways to come up with creative dates. With all of the happenings around the city, what are some of the best ways to date your mate in the summertime?
For starters, a picnic is always an awesome idea. Sheep Meadow in Central Park or Picnic Park at Brooklyn Bridge Park are two prime areas to set up shop. While those may be some of the most popular, there are a bevy of green areas to choose from. Pack a basket or a backpack with some of your mate’s favorite goodies, a wireless speaker, some magazines, and prepare to spend some quality time. Kick things up a notch and create a Tidal playlist especially for the date. He/She can access the playlist at anytime and it will always remind them of the special time you had. If a surprise is what you had in mind, leave your basket at home and log on to Picnycs so they can deliver your basket to the park for you.
If eating lunch in the grass is not your cup of tea then how about an outdoor food fest! Between the street festivals that happen every weekend to the new Smorgasburg locations, grabbing a bite to eat has never been more fun. Smorgasburg Coney Island could most likely turn into an adventure at the aquarium or amusement park. Seaport Smorgasburg is the perfect pre-game to a bike ride around Governor’s Island. Smorgasburg Brooklyn Bridge Park is located smack dab in the middle of a variety of activities, including Kayaking.
Kayaking is a big deal in the New York waterways. The Downtown Boathouse, Pier 26, Governor’s Island, and Pier 96 are all locations that offer free kayaking. Their schedules are posted online so it is easy to plan. Nothing says “ I Like You” more than kayaking your mate through the waters of New York City.
While dates to the movies and restaurants are great during summer for the air conditioning, the above activities are ideal for getting to spend quality time with your mate. New York City is chock full of things to do and getting out and exploring them with a partner is part of the fun. Step out of the box and do something different for date night this summer!
