Club Tijuana Xoloitzcuintles de Caliente fell 4-1 to Toluca FC at the Nemesio Diez Stadium in central Mexico during week 11 of the Apertura 2015 of La Liga MX. With the loss the Aztec dogs drop their second game of the last three they have competed in.
The night turned into a real inferno for goalkeeper Federico Vilar who received the four goals. Enrique Triverio opened scoring in the 39th minute taking a shot from near the outskirts to easily beat the Argentine born goalkeeper.
Things seemed like they might turn around for the rojinegros when in the 55th minute they forced defender Paulo DaSilva to put the ball in his own net. With 35 minutes to go, it appeared the game could be managed by the dogs to get the point.
Minutes later the Red Devils took the lead once more. Christian Cueva took a long distance shot to find the angle not covered by Vilar. The home side took a 2-1 lead.
With the lead secured, Jose Saturnino Cardozo’s squad held the Tijuana attack at bay. In the 80th minute Omar Arellano increased Toluca’s lead to 3-1. That was not enough for the home side and in compensation time Carlos Esquivel sealed the coffin with the final 4-1.
Xolos have had a rollercoaster season with only four wins, six loses and a single draw in 11 games. The dogs fall to the 12th position on the league table and are out of a playoff spot for now. Tijuana needs to improve its game if it wants to return to the glory they had in 2012. Xoloitzcuintles will travel to La Corregidora Stadium on Friday to face Queretaro FC. They return home on Oct. 16, 2015 to host Club America.
