Take a trip to France and cheer on the secret agent as he escapes from the villains in a high speed multi-vehicle chase. He must protect top secret documents, but is being chased through the streets of Paris by those who want to sabotage his mission. Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to grab a seat, sit back and let the cameras roll during the Lights, Motors, Action! Extreme Stunt Show at Disney’s Hollywood Studios.
You will bite your nails as you watch the hero take a daring jump in reverse and barely escapes in his car. Jump in your seat as he breaks through a store window on a motorcycle. Then hold your breath as he takes on one of the bad guys in an action packed, watery chase aboard jet skis.
The action is only the beginning. Your experiences will be more than just sitting back and watching the stunt show. You will be given a behind-the-scenes look at how an action film is made. The director of the production will show you tricks of the trade and how camera set up is crucial to making a believable car chase. Then the stunt coordinator will show you what it takes to keep stunts authentic, realistic and safe. The stunt coordinator also takes part in the action as he plays a villain who is shot and falls off the roof of a five-story building.
Though the show is filmed out of sequence you will still feel the excitement as tires squeal, engines rev up, fire erupts and explosions blow. At the end of the show, you will see the action pieced together into the final film. This time it will all be in order. The stunt show includes perfectly choreographed cars, motorcycles, trucks and pyrotechnics.
The cars used in the stunt show are highly-modified Opel brand cars that were specially designed by Walt Disney Imagineering, a division of the Disney Company. The weight was reduced and a roll cage was installed to make the cars light enough to maneuver quickly through the set’s obstacles. They are powered by 1300 cc, 150 horsepower motorcycle engines and has four forward gears and four backward gears, making it easy to control the cars not matter what direction they are driving in.
Keep an eye out for Lightning McQueen from Disney*Pixar’s Cars as he makes an appearance during the stunt show. He is warned by Mater about an enemy spy that is on the set. Just like the rest of the show, this appearance will definitely keep audiences on the edge of their seats.
