God created you to move forward and achieve your best and ultimately bring glory to Him. Beyond the prosperity gurus of the Christian world, God does want you to strive (while relying on Him I might add) to be the best you can be. God does not want to see any of us sitting on the couch doing nothing with the life He has blessed us with, but rather He wants to see each of us utilize the talents and abilities that He has blessed us with to their full potential.
“To this end I also labor, striving according to His working which works in me mightily.” (Colossians 1:29 NKJV).
What talents and abilities has He blessed you with that you are not utilizing to their full potential? God does not want us to hide or bury our talent or talents in fear, but instead leap out in faith and work on improving on our talents while gaining more talents and abilities along the way that could bring more glory to Him and shine forth His light to the lost world around us and ultimately bring more lost souls to Jesus Christ.
“Then he who had received the one talent came and said, ‘Lord, I knew you to be a hard man, reaping where you have not sown, and gathering where you have not scattered seed. And I was afraid, and went and hid your talent in the ground. Look, there you have what is yours.” (Matthews 25:24,25).
When we do not utilize the talents the Lord has blessed us with and strive to be the best He has created us to be, we then are not able to produce fruit for Him and His kingdom like a worthy and good servant. As Christians, producing fruit is essential and apart of everyday life and this produced through our works done through Him and His talents He gives us and by faith in Him and His Holy Spirit.
“Every branch in Me that does not bear fruit He takes away; and every branch that bears fruit He prunes, that it may bear more fruit.” (John 15:2).
When we utilize our talents and strive to become the best He created us to be, He then prunes away the things that hold us back enable to produce more fruit and gain more talents and glorify Him. What talents are you hiding in the ground today? What is holding you back that needs to be pruned away? Pray and ask the Lord to help strengthen you and reveal to you what areas need work and where you should strive to be the best He created you to be!
“Abide in Me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in Me.” (John 15:4).
