Danica Patrick will continue to drive the #10 Chevrolet at Stewart-Haas Racing after signing at multi-year contract the team announced Tuesday morning. Patrick will be sponsored in 2016 by the rapidly growing snacks and food brand Nature’s Bakery headquartered in Reno, Nevada.
Nature’s Bakery will be the primary sponsor for 28 races beginning in 2016 with its signature tagline, “Energy for Life’s Great Journeys” adorning Patrick’s #10 Chevrolet SS.
“It’s an honor to represent Nature’s Bakery and also a great deal of responsibility,” said Patrick. “They have ambitious goals and they’re going to rely on me and everyone at Stewart-Haas Racing to deliver. I have ambitious goals too. It’s why I came to NASCAR and, specifically, to Stewart-Haas Racing.”
“There’s still a lot I want to achieve in this sport and I’m looking to continue my professional journey with a brand as determined as I am.”
In April Patrick’s primary sponsor GoDaddy.com, for her first three years at SHR, made the announcement they would not return to NASCAR, citing a desire to focus on global expansion, rather than domestic growth. GoDaddy.com is a publicly traded Internet domain registrar and web hosting company.
GoDaddy.com sponsorship agreement was in line with Patrick’s contract at SHR, and both deals ran only through the 2015 season. The loss of funding meant in order for Patrick to remain at SHR a replacement sponsor would need to come on board. That also left Patrick open to sign with another NASCAR organization.
Nature’s Bakery was founded in 2010 by the father and son duo of Dave and Sam Marson with a mission of making delicious, convenient, on-the-go snacks that complement health-conscious living and active, everyday lifestyles. The deal with Patrick means gone will be the neon green paint scheme for the #10 Chevrolet.
“Danica Patrick is one of the most fit and health-conscious drivers in all of racing and she embodies the Nature’s Bakery customer,” said Dave Marson, founder of Nature’s Bakery. “We make great products that complement Danica’s lifestyle and the always on-the-go environment in which she competes. Nature’s Bakery provides ‘Energy for Life’s Great Journeys’ and we’re very proud to embark upon this NASCAR journey with Danica and Stewart-Haas Racing.”
“I feel like that’s a really good color for me, it’s going to be really good for my complexion,” Patrick said of her new blue-and-white Chevrolet. Patrick also mentioned she did not look to other NASCAR organizations and said, “I really feel like family here, and this is where I want to be, I really am fortunate that I didn’t have to look anywhere else.”
Three-time NASCAR Sprint Cup Champions and Co-owner of SHR, along with Gene Haas, founder of Haas Automation the largest CNC machine tool builder in North America, Tony Stewart said, “Danica has proven she belongs in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series and we’re very happy to have her a part of our team for years to come… In Danica, we have the best possible person to help Nature’s Bakery achieve its goals.”
Patrick has 105 starts at NASCAR’s top level, with six career top-10 finishes. Patrick won the pole for the Daytona 500 in 2013 and it currently a career-best 21st in the 2015 standings. Patrick also has 115 starts in seven year in the Indy Car circuit, she twice led laps in the Indianapolis 500 and finished a career best third in that race in 2011 and she claim her only Indy Car victory in 2008 in Japan.
