Today, let us all say a prayer for the World. It is challenging to give thanks, when there is so much hate and anger in the World. With Thanksgiving being a little over one week away, now is the time to start to rebuild the World, one prayer at a time!
Now being that Thanksgiving is so close, we better get a cracking on some more recipes. O.K. we have started with a wonderful curried butternut squash soup recipe and a warm and satisfying goat cheese salad.
Today, let’s step back a bit and whip up a couple of appetizers that people can munch on while waiting to sit down for the main dinner. Appetizers are actually “appetite-teasers”! Appetizers get the taste buds stimulated. It gets your mouth salivating, anxious for more. For more flavors, more food! We have actually covered some very tasty appetizers in the past that work well with this menu. One in particular, that will compliment this menu are some nice stuffed mushrooms, with a walnut spinach filling. Now that says “Fall” with every bite. Served warm, this will definitely stir up the ole’ taste buds.
Another great appetizer that my sister makes every year, is “Mango Mary’s” Hotttt Crab toast”! My sister, Mango Mary, is a pretty good cook herself. This appetizer has been tantalizing our taste buds for as long as I can remember. Ahhhhhh, memories, now what was I talking about? Oh, that’s right, “Mango Mary’s” Hotttttt Crab Toast Points. Here is some good stuff, Baaaaaaaby!
Here goes the recipe
1 – can of Lump crab meat, drained and cleaned (check for shells)
1 – stick (1/2 cup) of butter
10 – slices of Velveeta cheese
1/2 – cup Vidalia (or sweet) onion, finely chopped
Dash of Worcestershire sauce
1 loaf – very thin white bread
Melt the butter, over medium heat, in saucepan and add onion. Sauté until onion is clear. Add cheese slices and stir until melted and blended well. Add dash of Worcestershire sauce and drained crab meat. Stir thoroughly and removed from heat. Reserve on the side.
Next, toast the bread on one side only. Trim off the crusts and cut in four triangles. On side that is not toasted, spread half teaspoon or so of the crab meat mixture. Place under broiler until bubbly and browned. That’s it!!
WARNING! WARNING! WILL ROBINSON! DO NOT EAT RIGHT AWAY! YOU WILL BURN THE ROOF OF YOUR MOUTH! (It’s like pizza, man… right out of the oven, it’s “Mango Mary’s” Hotttt Crab Toast)!!!
Of course it is always good to have some bowls of roasted nuts, pretzels and some fresh veggies and dip. For the veggies, you can buy those bags of veggies that are pre-cut like “carrot, cauliflower and broccoli” mix, grab a container of cherry tomatoes and sugar snaps. Then you will have an “Au natural” crudités basket (have the veggies pouring out of a basket tilted on its side with a linen lining the bottom).
Have some sparkling cider, Champagne and a couple fall style beers and your guest will never want to leave! They will be thanking YOU, for being their friend and you, my friend, will have created a memorable day for your friends and for you! Has anyone ever told YOU that you are one fantastic person!?
Thanks for tuning in. Be thankful for “LIFE”! No matter what is happening in your life, if you are alive, than that is a great start on your “Gratitude list”. By the way, how is your “Gratitude” list doing? Remember the question is, do you have a “Gladitude” or a “Baditude”? Only you truly know and the great part is, you can always start right at this moment to have a “Gladitude”! Create a great life, one glorious moment at a time! Peace
