If you LOVE sashimi and / or sushi, you’re going to LOVE the Tsunami Japanese Steakhouse restaurant in St. Petersburg, Florida! Yes, our all-time, favorite restaurant on the west coast of Florida for sashimi and sushi dining is Tsunami – where they absolutely treat you with an intricately created, authentic Japanese culinary dining experience!
Enticing, picture-perfect, and fabulous tasting sashimi, sushi rolls, noodles, salads, and steaks are so tempting here that you’ll be back again and again to try them all! High-quality, visually stunning, and large portions served at the perfect temperature, (the largest sashimi portions we’ve ever had anywhere) are what you’ll find at Tsunami. Everything is fresh, artfully plated, and great tasting! How much better can it get?
It’s my pleasure to review Tsunami (with photos) since we have enjoyed so many exquisite and fun meals there! Best sashimi and sushi!
I am always interested in healthy eating options, and totally enjoy sashimi and sushi, so when we stumbled upon Tsunami Japanese Steakhouse, nearly two years ago, I was also pleasantly surprised to find we could find such delicious food for an incredible price (when you consider the portions).
Everything we’ve tried has been delectably aWEsOMe! In particular, we love the escolar (white tuna), Japanese yellowtail (hamachi) sashimi, smoked salmon (so delicate and light), and scallops (they serve those in two different ways) all so mouthwatering and divine! My husband and I give Tsunami’s sushi chefs two thumbs way up – yummy!!
We often have their fantastic side salad (their ginger dressing is aWEsOMe) too!
Other items we LOVE:
- Spicy Tuna Hand roll
- Spicy Tuna sashimi (often served with cucumber slices)
- Scallop Delight sashimi
- Scallop with sea salt and lemon sashimi
- Grilled eel sashimi (usually served with avocado slices)
- Tuna cheek sashimi (not on the menu, have to ask for it)
- Conch sashimi
- Brandon roll
- Dragon roll
- Lollipop roll
Tsunami Japanese Steakhouse also offers a fine full bar to accompany your meals. We’re not the only ones who love Tsunami – many locals join us there. We usually dine at the bar, to beat the line who wait for booths or Teppanyaki dining.
Bottom line: Friendly and helpful staff – two very well-trained and fast sushi chefs, bartenders, and servers – always moving, always ready to serve. You’ll be so pampered and spoiled, you will certainly come back for more!
If you see us… a white haired guy in a tie-dye t-shirt, or Hawaiian shirt and a tall gal with graying curly hair (me)… be sure and introduce yourself – we’d love to chat!
