Sierra Nevada Brewing Co. (Chico, California) recently announced that they will be releasing Otra Vez Gose-style Ale as their newest year-round offering at the start of 2016.
With a translation meaning “another time,” Otra Vez is Sierra Nevada’s homage to a time early in California’s brewing history when beers were created with local ingredients. This recipe takes a base of the incredibly popular Gose style and combines its salty, tartness with a “fruity-tangy blend” of prickly pear cactus of the state’s desert region and grapefruits sourced from the Central Valley’s flats. The final beer comes together as a bright and refreshing offering bursting with those signature California fruit notes and just a touch of coriander to stay true to the Gose style. Otra Vez weighs in at an easy-drinking 4.5% ABV and 5 IBUs.
“We wanted to make one of the easiest drinking craft beers out there, and funny enough Otra Vez has been a bear to get just right,” said Ken Grossman, Sierra Nevada’s founder. “We brewed several test batches a week for nearly a year, and even delicate changes made a big difference. Then it all clicked with perfect balance and complexity. We think folks will really enjoy it.”
Otra Vez Gose-style Ale will be available in 12 oz. bottles, 12 oz. cans and on draught. Look for this offering to start hitting shelves nationwide beginning in January 2016. If the Gose style is your thing, make sure to check this one out because Sierra Nevada tends to release nothing but quality with each new offering. Prost!
