There are so many factors to consider when taking a bus tour and whether or not it is worth the money to purchase insurance. Consider your health as a main factor and if you have fallen recently. Keep in mind that you will be getting off and on the bus several times a day. One of the travel insurance plans, using this as an example, is Travel Confident® Protection Plan.
This insurance will cover your FULL TOUR COST if you must cancel your trip for any of the following reasons:
Sickness, injury or death to you, a traveling companion, a family member or a business partner.
Jury Duty or being required to appear as a witness in a legal action.
A Strike that causes services to cease for at least 48 hours.
Losing Your Job where you have worked for at least three years.
Terrorist Attack, Hijack or Quarantine.
Weather that causes your common carrier to cease operations for at least 48 hours.
Fire, Flood or Natural Disaster that causes your home to be uninhabitable.
Burglary of your home within ten days of departure.
Getting into a Traffic Accident on your way to your trip’s departure point.
This policy also includes baggage benefit of up to $1,000 if your baggage is lost, stolen or damaged.
You are covered for up to $5,000 medical expense if you are injured or become ill during the trip. Plus you are covered for up to $750 in emergency dental treatment.
Should a severe illness require immediate care, and a local hospital cannot meet your needs, you are eligible for transportation to the nearest hospital with appropriate treatment. A toll-free call to 1-888-268-2824 starts the arrangements. If you are traveling alone, you are also covered for the air fare of a companion to join you at the hospital (providing you are in the hospital for at least seven days).
The pricing for this is based upon the cost of your trip with Diamond Tours. For trip cost of up to $500, the cost is $35 and jumps in intervals according to cost with a cap of $2,000 trip cost for $129.
*This is an example of the insurance available to Diamond Tours passengers, as printed at the back of flyers issued by Diamond Tours. Several other companies offer travel insurance, including those issued by travel agents. Shop wisely and be sure you read the fine print.
