Shonda Rhimes is the creator of “Grey’s Anatomy,” “Scandal,” and “How to Get Away with Murder.” She also has four more upcoming dramas. However, that hasn’t kept her from taking care of her health. She has lost 117 pounds, according to Extra on Monday.
Shonda explained to “Extra’s” Renee Bargh about how she lost so much weight and her motivation behind her weight loss. Shonda has struggled with her weight for many years, but she said now is the time to get healthy for her little kids. She said, “I have some little kids, and I want to be around for them.” The successful owner of ShondaLand is the mother of three little girls. She adopted her first daughter in June 2002 and adopted another girl in February 2012. In September 2013, Rhimes welcomed her third daughter via gestational surrogacy.
Shonda gave another tip that would be helpful for others who are trying to lose weight. She added, “Once I decided it wasn’t gonna be fun, like, I lowered my expectations; it got kind of easier.” ET Online reported that Rhimes changed her eating habits and began exercising. She admitted that she hated both of these, but she did them anyway.
The 45-year-old writer and producer began to eat smaller portions, and the pounds seemed to drop off. Rhimes has already been interviewed by Oprah about her weight loss. The interview is scheduled to air on OWN’s Super Soul Sunday on Nov. 5. During the interview, Rhimes opened up to Oprah about her dramatic weight loss of 117 pounds. Make sure you watch the show to hear Shonda talk about her weight loss in her own words.
