Update – adopted!
A dog who was once neglected, and then abandoned, has been removed from her prior sad existence, but a lack of space, and lack of adopter interest, has put her into a new, sad situation. Bertha, a young-side of the senior years hound mix, is no longer wandering the streets alone, but she is still, for all intents and purposes, alone.
Today Bertha is at the Brookhaven Shelter in Long Island, New York. On Monday evening, the Facebook page, Desperate Dogs of Long Island, described Bertha’s plight, “She spent several weeks in isolation away from the shelter stress in hopes she would gain weight- and now because the shelter is overcrowded, she lives in a crate- sadly there is no kennel space for her- and when everyone goes home, she hopes her turn…comes tomorrow.”
Bertha is filled with love, but she has no one to share that love with. According to shelter volunteers, she is good with other dogs and people – even cats. Desperate Dogs of Long Island wrote, “Bertha is available through Brookhaven shelter’s foster program, and all medical, if needed will be covered. Please note- if you own other dogs, this shelter requires a meet and greet with your dog.”
Please help Bertha find the love that she so desperately craves by sharing her information. Contact with questions or offers: firstname.lastname@example.org
