Clevelanders seeking a family-oriented, educational and fun holiday getaway should consider a journey to historic Sauder Village in Archibold, Ohio where you can experience what Christmases were like in rural Ohio more than 100 years ago at their Holiday Lantern Tours “Yuletides of Yesteryear” event being held on Saturday, December 5, Friday, December 11 and Saturday, December 12.
This interactive holiday event will give visitors a glimpse at Christmas holiday traditions over the years with lots of hands-on activities. Your holiday trolley tour will begin at the Witmer Roth Home (built in 1850) where you will help set the table and learn about holiday food recipes as a holiday meal is prepared. You will then proceed to the Peter Stuckey home (circa 1880) where you will learn how the home was decorated for the Christmas holiday and where you will make a holiday craft and get information about gift giving during that era. Next stop on the trolley tour will be the recently remodeled Grime Homestead (built in 1928) where you will learn about 1920’s holiday traditions, decorate a tree, sing carols around a player piano and frost cookies in the kitchen. And finally, you will stop at the District 16 School and help act out a traditional Christmas story,
