Last night, two politicians who have not played with any conventional wisdom about campaigning and electability met in a television first. Sarah Palin, former Governor of Alaska, former candidate for Vice-President and Tea Party favorite met Donald Trump, Republican candidate for President via OAN News Channel not for a debate but for what was billed as a interview but for many it seemed to be a love letter from Palin to Trump. Palin couldn’t help herself, she just shined with admiration when talking with Trump. In an old fashioned term, it looked like Palin was mooning over Trump in a political styled setting.
The word interview may be strong for what actually occurred last night. It was more of a booster club endorsement and the bashing of anyone not in the love in. Palin throw blanket expressions of support such as ““Viewers … he’s talking to you. He wants to connect with those who are showing up at the polls.” She continued to her outpouring of support by answering her own questions like when she asked about the economy and the middle class, “I know that’s where your heart is … in this working class.” Which then Trump was able to throw out his deduction that” “I know that’s where your heart is … in this working class.” This statement alone has been a point that Trump has hammered home on most of his campaign stops. This interview can be described more of an infomercial about what goals the Trump campaign has.
Continuing on this orchestrated apple polish demonstration of mutual respect, Trump and Pain where able to even downplay good news about the economy. News out of White House that unemployment claims had dropped in the second quarter and that the second quarter increased by annual clip of 3.7%. News of this though was treated by both Trump and Palin as disbelief. Trump countered that “The White House is not truthful, “regarding economic news and Palin agreed with ““I don’t think we’re getting the true state of the economy out of the White House,” as she thanked Trump by saying “thanks for setting that straight.”
This so called interview continued with Palin thanking Trump for helping with the needs of our Veteran as of course this administration does not do enough for those returning home. The love feast went on for a few more mutual compliments with Trump concluding that he was “having a lot of fun campaigning “ and ended the program as telling Palin, You are a terrific person.” Now once again, all everyone is talking about is the campaign of Trump which proves how smart this media savvy candidate is.
