Big news out of the science community was revealed on Monday. Scientists have confirmed that water is flowing on the surface of Mars, but some in the right wing media are not impressed.
James L. Green, the director of NASA’s planetary science division, called the discovery “tremendously exciting.” With scientists finding water on Mars, it now opens the door to the possibility of life existing outside of the planet Earth. NASA also announced the possibility of sending spacecrafts to Mars over the next decade with the hope of locating new forms of life. While most were excited and intrigued by the finding, Rush Limbaugh was highly skeptical during the Sept. 28 broadcast of “The Rush Limbaugh Show.”
“There’s so much fraud,” Limbaugh said of the news. Claiming that NASA has been “fraudulent” and “lying” for years about the earth’s rising temperature, the conservative radio show host even went as far as to claim that the Obama administration had infiltrated the program to push a liberal agenda.
“NASA has been corrupted by the current regime. I want to find out what they’re going to tell us. OK, flowing water on Mars. If we’re even to believe that, what are they going to tell us that means?… Don’t know how long it’s going to take, but this news that there is flowing water on Mars is somehow going to find its way into a technique to advance the leftist agenda. I don’t know what it is, I would assume it would be something to do with global warming.”
Limbaugh continued his paranoia, questioning if NASA will ever announce that they found a “graveyard” in space also. This isn’t the first time that Limbaugh has attacked NASA and science. Making a living out of liberal attacks, Limbaugh has crafted and created an audience and show model that appeals to the lowest common denominator. Despite overwhelming scientific facts about climate change and human activity leading to an increase in global warming, Limbaugh and those on the far right continue to dismiss factual evidence in order to promote debunked talking points.
