Arrival Experience: It is clear that something is different the second you enter this popular hotel. It does not promise to be the most luxurious, but it does reveal some of the friendliest staffers by the airport. Seriously, you will not find friendlier or happier hotel employees by the runway than here. I have stayed at a dozen Bath Road hotels, and clearly, the staff stands out from the pack. This is the kind of thing that can make or break a stay. A true welcome after a long journey is not as easy as it sounds by Heathrow’s busy runways. The long atrium lobby is airy and bright, which is a welcome retreat in between long flights. Kiosks handle check-in for those that prefer not to wait. As with most hotels by Heathrow, guests can take the Hotel Hoppa bus for a fee to reach the hotel or take one of the free public buses. The latter do not stop directly in front of the hotel; instead, guests can get off the bus near the Holiday Inn Ariel and walk for about 5 minutes to reach the front door.
Dining: Thyme is the main restaurant here serving a delectable buffet breakfast that is part of the chain’s signature Premier offering. Scrambled and fried eggs, fresh fruit and yogurt, sausage, baked beans, and potatoes are all part of the spread. Lunch and dinner are also served here, which is popular with overnighting flight crew or jetlagged guests who may not sure what time it is. Costa Coffee is another option for a bit of caffeine or light bites.
Rooms: Modern and comfortable, the rooms feature soft mattresses with duvets and plump pillows. Flat-screen cable TVs share the desk space, and refrigerators are great for storing leftovers for a midnight snack. The hotel does not offer international power ports, and converters are only available for sale. Luckily, the smart phones can be plugged into the USB port of the TV. Bright bathrooms have strong water pressure in showers with curved shower rods for extra space, plentiful towels, and wall-mounted toiletries.
Amenities: For an airport hotel, there is little need for features like a pool or gym, which are hardly missed here since most guests are in and out after a one-night stay. Premier Inn is known for its reliability when it comes to comfortable, affordable, and modern accommodations. Many hotel desks claim to offer discounts in the arrivals area of the airport, but Premier Inn’s exclusive saver rates are the best value. This hotel hits all the right marks, and with such a friendly staff, it proves to be a welcoming option by the runway.
