EA has been quite busy over the past handful of months and things won’t be slowing down during the first half of next year. Today, they revealed UFC 2 will be launching for the PS4 and Xbox One during the Spring of next year.
In addition to today’s announcement, EA revealed one of the game’s cover athletes. The one who will be front and center is none other than “Rowdy” Ronda Rousey, as EA referred to her as the “game’s global lead cover athlete.” She provided some remarks for today’s reveal.
“EA Sports is a cultural barometer to know what’s going on in sports at the moment. As a gamer myself, it’s pretty surreal to be on the cover of the game and to have a woman on the cover of a UFC game shows a lot of progress. I’m really happy to be involved with it,” Rousey said.
Visuals are said to be among the features that have been improved, in addition to a brand-new Knockout Physics System. EA also boasts that this title will have the largest roster of “real-world fighters” in an MMA game to date. The game is coming only to PS4 and Xbox One.
The Knockout Physics System is said to be “a revolutionary new physics-driven hit reaction and knockout system delivers more visceral, more rewarding, and more authentic KOs than ever before. Every knockout is now unique, and finishing the fight has never been more satisfying.”
Next level submissions and dynamic grappling both are said to be bringing a new sort of fluidity to the gameplay. Blocking and parrying have been revamped to help players take on more of a defensive role, if they so choose. UFC 2 Creative Director Brian Hayes spoke about where inspiration for changes in UFC 2 came from.
“Like any champion fighter going into their next fight, we listened to our corner – in our case, the fans – and took a detailed look at everything we can do to take the fight game to a whole new level. We’re doing that by introducing innovative gameplay features, delivering a game mode for every fighter regardless of their style of play, and adding helpful tools so fans can master MMA, all while producing the jaw-dropping visuals that fans expect,” Hayes said.
UFC 2 will be bringing in five new games modes and the game’s modes will include Career Mode, UFC Ultimate Team, Custom Event Creator, KO Mode, Online Championships, Live Events and Create A Fighter. No exact release date has been pinpointed for UFC 2 though the game will come to PS4 and Xbox One, much like its predecessor did.
