“Rocket League” will receive free “Portal” themed cosmetic items on Tuesday, December 1, developer Psyonix announced on the game’s Steam forum.
The developer thanked Valve Software for the official crossover, though the two companies have worked together in the past such as including free copies of “Rocket League” with pre-orders of Valve’s Steam Link hardware. Nine items can be potentially unlocked after playing a full game of “Rocket League,” win or lose. This includes a cake topper (a hat for your car), three gel rocket trails, and five antennas such as the famous companion cube or an Aperture Laboratories flag.
Also coming December 1, Psyonix will add post-apocalyptic cosmetic items in its “Chaos Run” DLC pack which includes two new cars, 12 decals, two paint types, two sets of wheels, two rocket trails, three toppers, three antennas, and five achievements. The pack will be available for $3.99, but a new arena map and other cosmetics will be freely available to everyone alongside the paid DLC.
On December 14, “Rocket League” will replace the mutator mashup playlist with a winter themed arena with an icy field and a hockey puck instead of a ball. Seven “Snow Day” cosmetic items can be unlocked from playing full matches, but the items will be available for a limited time until January 4.
“Rocket League” is available for PlayStation 4 and PC.
