Robert Pattinson is trending on Thursday because of his recent Twilight fame thoughts. He found the entire experience “strange” and he ultimately reacted by becoming relatively reclusive. However, that’s hardly all that has been going on with this famous thespian. According to the Irish Times on Sept. 24, the legendary English lad is pursuing a lot of new projects while juggling his relationship with FKA Twigs, his intended wife, and while putting his angst behind him as best he can.
Still, the 29-year-old Brit’s feelings about the massive intrusion on his life after making the films he starred in with former flame Kristen Stewart did take its toll. Pattinson lost his privacy, something that happens to nearly every megastar who sits in the same strata as Rob.
After all, this English fellow, a bloke who was told by a drama teacher to forget about acting, was only 24 when his movie franchise hit the big time and he hit People’s 100 most influential list as a result. That was a mere five years ago but it likely seems like a very long time to this self-described oddball who tried hard to stay out of the limelight when the spotlight was off.
So why does he use such a self deprecating term as oddball? Because that is the manner for which Robert Pattinson battles the effects of his Twilight fame. It is also how the guy known the world over as RPattz treats just about anything else that seems a little bit too over the top to be true or a little bit overbearing to ease into his lifestyle. Even his snazzy moniker was something that this fellow thought was a passing thing, just a veritable fluke that would go away.
But RPattz stuck and so did Robert Pattinson. He stuck around to make films that matter to him without regard to the box office. Right now, his roster is full of keen projects. One, a movie called “The Lost City of Z” that is partially being made in the jungles of Colombia, is enticing to this movie buff if only so he can claim to have had the chance to work with James Gray, a filmmaker he considers among his favorites.
As for his relationship with FKA Twigs? Even though rumors abound that he and the musician are hitting rocky times and that Sienna Miller may be his shoulder to cry on, Robert Pattinson is still engaged to the singer who was named Tahliah Debrett Barnett at birth.
Meanwhile, regarding RPattz’ reaction to fame, he said it was a very foreign concept in the beginning. He told the Associated Press (AP), “You didn’t realize the consequences of anything. You could say or do whatever… and it just didn’t matter.”
That was at first when Pattinson was dumbfounded by the huge reaction to his work and to his person. However, he also found the attention a bit “demanding,” at least on what he considers a psychological level.
Robert points out, “If you get famous as quickly as I did [then] your personal growth stops suddenly.” That apparently happened to Robert about seven years ago. “… I was in shock for four years [after that]” he admitted.
That said, in recent times following the period when Robert Pattinson’s Twilight fame haunted him so much that he tried to stay out of sight, this British actor has shaken off a lot of the stress of this strange phenomenon called stardom — something he says he just can’t quite handle. But with that in mind, will the hysteria return when Rob becomes a movie darling once again, as is bound to happen? Stay tuned for act two of the RPattz story.
