Rob Kardashian recently lost 25 pounds through diet and exercise and has made so much progress his mom, Kris Jenner, offered him $500,000 if he chronicles his weight loss on “Keeping Up With the Kardashians.” The money would come from the coffers of “KUWTK,” on which Kris is an executive producer.
“Watching what he is eating has made a huge difference, and Rob has quickly dropped 25 pounds,” a source told Radar. “Kris is thrilled because constantly being asked how he was doing was getting embarrassing!”
Rob, who gained 100 pounds during the past three years, has struggled to lose weight. Rob’s weight gain made him so reclusive he skipped sister Kim Kardashian’s 2014 wedding and stopped filming “KUWTK” even though the show is a significant source of income for him.
Rob recently kick-started an aggressive diet and workout regimen and has made tremendous progress. “Rob finally got serious about his fitness and most importantly, dealing with his mental health issues,” said a source. “Once he made progress with a psychotherapist, Rob decided to begin exercising.”
Kris Jenner has been heartbroken over Rob’s 100-pound weight gain and accompanying depression. Insiders say Jenner is also embarrassed by Rob’s dumpy appearance. “Kris is all about image and having an overweight son was a tarnish on her picture-perfect family,” said a source.
The 5-foot-11 Rob, who reportedly weighs about 300 pounds, has his sisters and mom terrified he could become diabetic or die early due to obesity-related health problems. On a recent episode of “Keeping Up With the Kardashians,” Kris told a family therapist she’s worried sick about her only son.
If I don’t help him do something drastic, he’s going to die. He was someone who was very athletic and he has gained over 100 pounds.”
Dramatic weight gain or weight loss is a symptom of depression, as are helplessness and mood swings, according to the Mayo Clinic. Rob’s sisters, Kim, Khloe and Kourtney, have repeatedly stated Rob suffers from all these symptoms.
Rob’s weight loss struggles have been a running story line on “Keeping Up With the Kardashians” for the past few seasons. On season 9, blood tests revealed Rob was at risk of developing diabetes and kidney failure.
Despite Rob’s 25-pound weight loss and his mom’s $500,000 bribe, insiders say he has no desire to return to the show. “He isn’t ready to film ‘KUWTK,'” said a source. “He doesn’t know if he ever wants to return to the show. He hates how fake it is and how phony his sisters and mom act. He is ready to branch out beyond the reality show.”
