If you are a stamper or scrapbooker, odds are pretty good that you attended Stampaway 2015 this past weekend. As always it was an amazing event, with three days of unique classes and a preview event preceding the actual Stampaway show.
The Friday preview event and Saturday show, held at the Sharonville Convention Center, were a sensory overload with wall to wall displays of stamps, dies, tools, embellishments and paper, as well as inspiring demonstrations (calculated to tempt you to purchase even more), and plenty of make-it take-it activities. The regulars were all there, including Tim Holtz (with an appearance by the man himself), Rubber Cottage, Stacy Stamps, Gary Burlin, Impression Obsession, Inky Antics, Judikins, Northwoods, Toomuchfun, Repeat Impressions, Verses and a host of others.
If you were unable to attend, and especially like fun and whimsical stamps and verses, you might want to go online to check out Riley and Co., also an exhibitor at Stampaway 2015. The home page shows a picture a Riley and the motto – “See what you’ve been moosing!” If the latter did not give it away, Riley is a moose, and his company includes a lady moose named Sophie and his penguin sidekick, Percy.
You can find these character stamps for about any activity (sports, cheerleading dance) or hobby you can imagine, as well as superheros (Batmoose), Fairy Tale characters, holiday characters (even the Grinch and Max), movie characters (Darth Vadermoose and Riley Pottermoose), and almost the entire cast of the Wizard of Oz.
To accompany these images you can find a saying for just about any occasion from serious to silly, snarky to sweet, or sincere to sarcastic. There are more of the humorous than sublime, but just reading the “funny bones” are enough to add a smile to your day.
They even include something for the Geeks in your life. One that seemed to produce quite a few chuckles was:
Stop asking us to find your X. She’s not coming back. We don’t know Y either.”
“Girl power” sentiments such as
“Your’re not a PRINCESS. You don’t need saved. You’re a QUEEN. You have this covered.”
“Telling an angry woman to calm down works about as well as baptizing a cat”
But you can also find beautiful, traditional, or thoughtful sentiments as well including:
“be kind, for everyone you meet is fighting a battle you know nothing about”
“Learn to love without condition. Talk without bad intention. Give without any reason. And most of all, care for people without any expectation.”
Check out the slideshow to see Riley, The Wizard of Oz by Riley and Company, and examples of other available stamps.
To see Riley and Company in person, make sure to save the dates August 3-6, 2016 for Stampaway 2016.
