Revenger #6, titled “Trapped!!!” is the new 48 page one-shot from Charles S. Forsman and Oily Comics, and it takes place in the future, where the title character is older, but her fighting skills haven’t changed, and the violent content is still present. The rating is for readers 17+, so it’s definitely not a child-appropriate comic book (series). Fans of Revenger will be ecstatic to read this book, and for new comic book readers, this is definitely a book worth owning and reading.
The action begins immediately during the start of this story, and as this one-shot is titled, we see that Revenger is “trapped” in a cave…a hole deep beneath the surface, but she soon realizes that she’s not alone down there. There are a lot of panels without words, but the illustrations are enough to tell the story, and this is what Charles S. Forsman does so well. Some of the fight scenes are so bloody, so gory, they have to be seen in order to see what Revenger is capable of. And…that’s not the end of it, things only get worse for the bad guys the moment Revenger finds her way out of the hole she was placed in.
The final fight between the hillbillies and Revenger is, in lack of better terms, “bloody good,” and just when it seems like Revenger takes care of business, she realizes that it’s not completely over yet, but it’s nothing she can’t handle. Bad guys beware, age doesn’t matter, cross Revenger’s path and chances of survival are slim! This is a one-shot comic book that will make readers want more…and the nice thing is, the story’s not over yet, Revenger will be back for another four issue mini series.
Revenger is a series that won’t disappoint the readers. The first five issues were very well written and illustrated, and the audience feel Revenger’s pain, as she goes out and takes care of business for a reason. The best part is that it had closure, the first story arc had a nice combination of story, art, and characterization; it had purpose. This one-shot story continues to have the same elements that made the previous issues so entertaining and enjoyable, and the best part is, it’s double sized, so readers get more story. Revenger is definitely a top pick for “comics of the year” for 2015, and the release of this book is a nice way to end the year of comics. I rate this book a 5 out of 5 stars, it’s a highly recommended book for readers who like action, violence, and humorous moments, and it’ll keep fans of this series hanging off the edge of their seats. This is another indie title that is a “hidden gem,” a book that comic book readers should be reading. Revenger #6, Trapped!!! (also known as Revenger is Trapped #1) is available on Comixology for $2.99, has a rating of 17+, has 48 pages, and is written and illustrated by Charles S. Forsman, published by Oily Comics.
