The CW show “Supernatural” has amassed a huge cult following en route to becoming North America’s longest-running sci-fi/ fantasy show. Now, like the show’s heroes Dean and Sam Winchester, “Supernatural” fans in Denver can do their own part to help stamp out the forces of darkness.
With the “Supernatural” convention coming to town on November 6-8, Creation Entertainment has partnered with the non-profit Random Acts to provide much-needed food and clothing essentials to Denver’s homeless population. During the convention, attendees are encouraged to bring in a variety of items that will be donated to The Gathering Place to help those struggling with poverty and homelessness.
Located at 1535 High Street, The Gathering Place is “Denver’s only daytime drop-in center for women, their children and transgender individuals who are experiencing poverty or homelessness.” Last year alone, The Gathering Place provided over 70,000 nutritious meals and distributed nearly 55,000 pounds of food. That’s on top of the thousands of diapers and toiletry bags given out to the needy.
Now, The Gathering Place needs your help to continue their important work. During the DenCon, volunteers will be on hand to accept crucial donations as the Mile High City heads into the colder months. You can pitch in by donating the following items:
Kids’ and women’s hats and gloves
Non-perishable, unexpired food, including:
Whole wheat pasta
New personal supplies, including:
Denture care – Polygrip/Efferdent
Shampoo and conditioner
Toothbrushes, toothpaste, and floss
New baby items, including:
Baby powder, lotion, shampoo, and bath wash
Unexpired baby food
Unopened packages of diapers (sizes 4, 5, 6 and Pull-Ups)
Financial donations will also be accepted for those who can’t bring any items. It’s an easy way to support the most vulnerable members of Denver’s community while celebrating the spirit of “Supernatural.”
