Forecast discussion: High pressure now moving away from Southern New England gave the state beautiful weather on this state holiday. However, as we head into tomorrow, a cold front will provide us with some rainfall.
A low pressure system passing through Michigan will bring increasing clouds and humidity during the overnight. We will begin to see showers by 7 a.m., but the precipitation will intensify through the day. Some computer models believe between rain and isolated thunderstorms we could see up to 1.5 inches in total rainfall by Wednesday morning. Also, the air will become more humid, as dewpoint temperatures will slowly increase through the week.
The front will be offshore by Wednesday afternoon, but there could still be some scattered showers behind the low’s center. So, I am keeping widespread showers in the forecast into Wednesday morning. High pressure ridging will slowly influence our weather by Thursday. But, once again, high cloud cover will slowly take over our skies by early Friday morning.
A new cold front will slowly make its way towards Southern New England by late Friday afternoon. We may see some scattered showers by the evening commute. The front will linger right over the state into Saturday, but the precipitation will be off and on throughout the day. We will see some sunshine by Sunday, as a weak high pressure ridge influences our weather. We go into the new workweek with the chance for more showers Monday night.
