An exciting new initiative to help animal shelters and rescue groups create fun and engaging community events this holiday season has been launched by Photographers for Animals. Working in conjunction with the Jackson Galaxy Foundation and Paws PR, the “Picture Me @ Home,” project provides animal shelters and rescue groups with turn-key marketing campaigns to help bolster community support for not only increased donations but increased animal adoptions.
In a recent press release about the initiative, Elizabeth Putsche, executive director of Photographers for Animals, had this to say regarding why she feels this project is so important:
“If an animal shelter wants help from their community, they need to be part of the community. We encourage shelters to hold events that bring people into the shelter so the public can experience the shelter as a positive place, with an atmosphere of love for animals. The public will remember the shelter when they are ready to adopt, and shelters may find a few new volunteers along the way!”
Marketing campaigns offered include:
• Black Friday Sale
• To Grandmother’s House We Go
• Photos with Santa Paws
• Ugly Sweater Party
• T’was the Night Before Christmas
• Twelve Days of Christmas – Amazon Wishlist
It’s easy for shelters or rescue groups to gain access to the material. Simply visit the website PictureMeAtHome.org and go to the Campaigns tab. There you will find detailed, step-by-step instructions on how to implement and deliver each campaign on the list.
The goal is to create greater awareness of the animal shelter in the community and encourage folks to actually visit the shelter to participate in the holiday event. Once at the shelter, there is a greater possibility of interaction with the animals in need of forever homes and an increased chance more animals will be adopted.
Photographers for Animals, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, was founded to promote animal issues and to help organizations utilize opportunities for photography and film. Their partnership with Paws PR and the Jackson Galaxy Foundation has resulted in a strong synergy to spearhead the project forward in order to reach as many shelters and rescue groups as possible across the nation.
The campaign efforts are worth it. Why? Every year millions of animals are euthanized because shelters are simply full – there’s no more “room at the inn” and no loving home available to take the pet. In the season of giving, the holidays are the perfect time for folks to open their hearts to a shelter pet, and a perfect time for shelters to open their doors to welcome folks in to meet with staff and volunteers, and of course, the pets in need.
