Paula Cousins is a disciple of New Canaan Worship Center in Richmond, Virginia where the pastors are Rev. Louis R. Blakey, Jr. and Rev. Lois Blakey-Paige. The pastor-emeritus is Rev. Louis R. Blakey, Sr. who founded the church 41 years ago.
The 53-year-old is a native of Richmond, Virginia. She has been a disciple of New Canaan for about 30 years. Paula loves studying the Bible, and she is well versed in the Word of God. She regularly attends Bible Study and Sunday school and specialized classes when they are offered. She serves in the church as president of the choir, member of the praise and worship team, and she is a part of the finance ministry. Paula is at church every Sunday and Wednesday night, along with her mother, Mrs. Helen Cousins.
Paula has had the same job for 35 years. That says a lot about her work ethics. She works for Aramark Food Services at Phillip Morris. She is studying to get her license in cosmetology.
Among the many scriptures Paula knows, Psalm 23 and 2 Chronicles 7:14 are her favorites.
“If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.”
Fun fact about Paula: Paula always has a gift bag filled with different kinds of candy. Children and adults know to go to her pew and pick out what they like. Some have become accustomed to requesting their favorites. The next Sunday, sure enough Paula will have that kind in her bag.
