Since its inception in 2003, Portland Fashion Week® has emerged as one of the Most Sustainably Produced Fashion Weeks in the world. As part of their environmental ethos, their executive chef sources as many items as possible from within a 25 mile radius of Portland. Other environmental measures include using low wattage LED runway lights, paperless trails and recycled process and using eco-friendly hair styling products and make up. Also, through their Carbon Mitigation Process, they offset the carbon footprint for this event by planting hundreds of native trees after each show.
This year’s fashion show will take place from October 1st through the 4th at 3333 NW Industrial Street. Each night will celebrate an aspect of fashion including their opening night showcasing green and sustainable fashions, ready to wear styles on display Friday night, Saturday’s couture selections and then closing with an accessories night on Sunday.
Unlike many fashion events that are for trade only, the public can purchase tickets and take part of this fashion week experience. General admission tickets start at $25 with tickets offering varying perks ranging from $40 to $125. Doors open at 5pm where participants can walk past the Paparazzi Banner with photographs of them walking the red carpet available for download. Grab a signature drink and eat bites from some of Portland’s premier food carts as pianist Lee Rice plays contemporary and classic melodies.
The fashion show will begin around 9pm and last for 30 to 45 minutes. Then their after party kicks in at 10pm and lasts until 2am each night. During this event, US born Irish Artist Seamus Kennedy will be painting the runway and crowd scenes in a style resembling Leroy Neimann and the 1976 Olympics.
Those with VIP and Ultra VIP tickets will be able to access a special VIP only lounge that includes a DJ, complimentary bar, hors d’voeures and desserts, spiritus sampling, massage, shoe shine, and nightly musical acts. Also, Celebrity Artist Sam Roloff will be painting shadow boxed pictures of VIP attendees.
