September 30, 2015 is International Podcast Day with an emphasis on the “international” this year as podcasting continues to grow around the world. September 30, 2014 marked the inaugural event with #PodcastDay trending No. 1 on Twitter for more than 14 hours. A live streaming event has held for six hours with call-ins coming in from podcsters all over the country.
International Podcast Day is as much about education as it is about promoting podcasting and that means noted podcasters like Steve and Dave Lee, Nick Seuberling, Dave Jackson, Daniel J. Lewis and Ray Ortega spreading the good word about podcasting and helping others. Pulling on knowledge that these veteran broadcasters picked up from attending shows in San Diego, Las Vegas and Europe, it really is time to spread the word that podcasting is picking up steam.
Changes are in store for 2015 and that includes a live stream event featuring podcasters from around the world. This year, live streaming will originate from New Zealand, Australia, Poland, Germany, Finland, the United States, United Kingdom and more. Check out International Podcast Day online for a list of events and opportunities. A whopping 30 hours of streaming content is planned, covering various topics.
International Podcast Day is also about giving back and honoring those that do so. This year, the International Podcast Day Gratitude Award will be awarded to a deserving recipient. The Gratitude Award will be awarded to a podcast with the highest engagement and gratitude from its audience. Think appreciation and a “pat on the back” for doing a good job and making a difference. For a change, this award can’t be won with podcast stats or voting, it is based on comments and engagement from the listeners to podcasts. Maybe a life was changed or saved, as podcasting resonates in the heart, mind and soul.
Leading up to the big day, there was a Teespring campaign selling International Podcast Day T-shirts and once again a number of sponsors are helping in making this day possible. Podcasters Paradise is the Platinum Sponsor with Appendipity and Spreaker the Gold Sponsors. We are proud to have Simple Podcast Press, Ringr, Scatter Radio as Silver Sponsors. Blab as the Official Streaming Partner of Podcast Day ans is where vieweres and listeners will be able to enjoy the live stream.
“In other countries, podcasting is as big or bigger than it is in this country,” added Steve Lee, founder of the Modern Life Podcast Network and the force behind International Podcast Day.
Podcasting has gone international and viral, so take September 30, 2015 and thank a podcast host or have a listen to a new podcast. Lee says that podcasting should be more about the audience than the hosts, and should make listeners want to show some love on International Podcast Day.
