According to a Sunday story on ABC News, Planned Parenthood blamed the Republican Party for the shooting rampage committed by Robert Louis Dear at one of its facilities in Colorado Springs. Dear is alleged to have injured a number of people, killing three, including a police officer, before surrendering to law enforcement. The Republican candidates have condemned the attacks though being careful not to endorse Planned Parenthood abortion practices.
The Planned Parenthood spokesperson seems to be referring to news that the organization is selling the body parts of babies it aborts, a practice that many Republicans and pro-life group have condemned as ghoulish and possibly illegal. The meme that somehow Dear was inspired by this condemnation was taken up by Hillary Clinton, who also used the occasion to call for stricter gun control measures.
Carly Fiorina was quick to hit back at the allegations, stating on Fox News Sunday, “This is so typical of the left to begin immediately demonizing a messenger because they don’t agree with the message. What I would say to anyone who tries to link this terrible tragedy to anyone who opposes abortion or opposes the sale of body parts, this is typical left-wing tactics.”
According to Gateway Pundit, Dear has been charged with a variety of crimes in the past, including traffic violations, cruelty to animals, and of being a “peeping tom.” He also seems to self-identify as a woman, according to voter records. His actual motives for the shooting rampage are unclear though he is said to have muttered at one point, “No more baby parts.”
