Update#1. (Monday morning) Phoenix is currently in surgery at the Fayetteville Animal Hospital. A mass has been discovered in her abdomen, and it is not known if she ate something or if there is a growth. Her condition is very critical. Please continue to share her story and help if possible.
In Peachtree City, Georgia, volunteers from the non profit rescue, Hounds in Pounds. ended the Thanksgiving weekend holiday in shock, sadness and tears. Just a few hours ago, the group received a call pleading for help with a young, female Bullmastiff. Starved both emotionally and physically, the dog now dubbed Phoenix, has no fight left in her. Weighing less than 40 pounds, when a healthy adult Mastiff averages from 100 to 120 pounds, it is still unknown if she will survive.
Currently at a partner veterinarian in Fayetteville, Hounds in Pounds continues to work with the shelter coordinator to provide Phoenix with the medical help she currently needs. The rescue is asking that volunteers join forces to help. “She weighs less than 40 lbs; she is anemic and right now her future is uncertain. We would like to help her, we would like to give her something to be thankful for. Please help us, donate for her recovery and help her rise from the ashes.” A YouCaring link to help can be found here.
Assuming that Phoenix survives, anyone interested in fostering or adopting is asked to contact the rescue. Follow Phoenix’ fight for her life on the organization’s Facebook. This is a developing story, and more details will soon be made available.
