The PGA Tour Championship 2015 live stream and televised coverage of Round 2 will begin on Friday morning as two players within striking distance of the FedEx Cup lead are also among those topping the leaderboard. After Thursday’s first round, Henrik Stenson found himself leading all contenders, but fellow star Rory McIlroy is not far behind at all. Stenson could wrap up the championship with a win, while McIlroy needs a win and help. Live streaming and TV coverage for Friday is available through Golf Channel or NBC.
On Sept. 24 Golf Digest reported that Henrik Stenson is the sole leader at the Tour Championship with a seven-under 63 score after the first round. He started out good on the first two-thirds of the course but faltered in the final six with a bogey on the 17th and also a five on the par-5 15th. That particular hole is considered the easiest hole on the entire scorecard for the field. Despite the poor finish, he still leads the other 29 competitors and right now can potentially win this year’s FedEx Cup championship, ousting leader Jason Day.
Also within contention for that distinction is Rory McIlroy, who is in third, and would still need help to grab the FedEx even with a win at Georgia. McIlroy had a 66 after one round keeping him in third place. He’d need to win this tournament and then hope for Day to finish at sixth or worse. He’d also need Jordan Spieth to finish fourth or worse, Fowler tied for third or worse, Stenson at second (in a three-way tie) or worse and Bubba Watson tied for second or worse. Seems like a lot of “if” scenarios, but he does have a shot should those players fall in Atlanta.
Current odds at Bovada sportsbook have Stenson as the +200 moneyline favorite, followed by McIlroy at +350 and Day at +800. Day is currently tied for No. 11 with six others including Rickie Fowler. Spieth, who is currently in fifth place has odds of +800, while Zach Johnson, who is tired with McIlroy in third is a +1200 favorite. In terms of long shots right now, Rickie Fowler is at +2000 while Bubba Watson is a +4000 favorite to win the tournament. Watson is currently tied with Justin Rose at No. 17 on the leaderboard and a win would give him the FedEx Cup championship.
