Sunday brings the PGA Championship 2015 live stream and TV coverage to a close as the final round will take place. After Saturday’s Round 3 finish, Jason Day managed to gain sole possession of the top spot on the leaderboard, edging out fellow Australian Matt Jones. Tiger Woods again missed a cut at a major tournament, while Phil Mickelson survived the cut and had a strong performance. Live streaming online and televised presentation will be available through the day Sunday.
According to CBS Sports in their Aug. 15 report, Tiger Woods missed is third straight major cut by just two strokes. Woods finished his second round early Saturday shooting a 73 to follow up Thursday’s 75. With that, Tiger has now missed more major cuts in just the past two years than the rest of his professional career. It shows the downward slump of one of golf’s most legendary icons. Woods would later comment on his performance “I hit it good enough to be where I needed to be, but I putted awful.”
Another star of the game who hasn’t seen any major wins lately is Phil Mickelson. He was also in danger of missing the cut, but managed to survive and played brilliantly on Saturday. Mickelson shot six-under-par 66 on Saturday which gave him his best performance in a major since last year’s PGA Championship final round. Golf fans will remember that Mickelson finished as the runner-up in that tournament to eventual winner Rory McIlroy. Currently, Mickelson is in a tie for 24th place on the leaderboard with six other players including Ernie Els.
Heading up the leaderboard as of this report is Jason Day who had taken a two stroke lead over Matt Jones. Brandon Grace was tied for third place with Tony Finau, while Justin Rose and Martin Kaymer found themselves in a tie for fifth place. Jordan Spieth and Anirban Lahiri were tied for seventh, with Dustin Johnson and George Coetzee tied for ninth, as several of the players had yet to finish their third rounds. The Bovada online sports book had Day at -110 as the favorite, followed by Rose at +350, Spieth at +600 and Branden Grace at +1000. Rory McIlroy currently has longshot odds at +15000.
