Chicago’s very own PAWS Chicago organization’s acronym stands for Pets Are Worth Saving. They have become a national model in the No-Kill form of animal sheltering. They have committed themselves to being the source that ends the killing of homeless cats and dogs!
PAWS Chicago is the city’s largest No Kill Shelter. They are also one of the largest pet shelters in the nation! They have helped reduce the number of homeless pets in Chicago by 77% since the organization was founded in 1997.
The reason that they participate in activities such as Woofstock is that they are doing everything that they can to get as many homeless pets adopted as they can. Their efforts afforded them 5,952 saves in 2014 alone. To help with their No-Kill goal, their Lincoln Park and North Shore Adoption Centers performed 18,290 spay and neuter surgeries through the Lurie Clinic and GusMobile Spay/Neuter Van. The two resources provide free and low-cost spay/neuter surgeries, vaccinations and humane education to families in and around Chicagoland that are under-resourced. This helps PAWS Chicago to help control the pet population better.
PAWS Chicago possesses the highest rated charity status in the Animal Rights, Welfare & Services category. You can visit www.pawschicago.org to gather even more information about all that PAWS Chicago does for animals in need. Now you can understand just what Woofstock will mean to them – and the animals that they will help get adopted!
The Lagunitas Brewing Company began with a core group of cities such as Chicago, St. Louis, Memphis, Walker Creek and the highlands of Quincy. They shared one core love and that was that they all loved beer. The mission went way beyond producing the hoppy-sweet drink though. They really wanted to communicate with people while enjoying their brew.
The friendships that have developed thanks to the Lagunitas Brewing Company are no ordinary friendships. This organization began in Northern California as a way to support beer lovers from coast to coast and beyond.
They are participating in Woofstock because they believe in the animal rights movement. Stop by their booth at Woofstock on Saturday, June 27th.
