The Filipino Community Center (FilCom Center) is celebrating the annual Pasko sa FilCom (Christmas at FilCom) on Sunday, December 6, 2015, 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. The theme is Tara na! Pasko na! Tayo’y magsaya! which means “Come on! It’s Christmas! Let’s have fun!”
This year, in the spirit of Tara na! Pasko na! Tayo’y magsaya!, Filipino and non-Filipino community groups, organizations and individuals are coming together to share their knowledge and talents in a day filled with singing, dancing, crafts, and cultural and public service exhibits. Pasko sa FilCom is a family-oriented event and activities such as contests for creating parols (traditional and recycled materials), choral performances, tabletop Christmas tree decorations and a Krismas karaoke contest are scheduled. The University of Hawaii will also feature a college fair to help families plan for college.
The FilCom Center is a unique link within the Filipino community and between the Filipino community and the larger society. Not only has the FilCom Center provided a meeting place for Filipino organizations, functions and events, it also conducts much needed social, economic and educational services including computer enrichment and workforce training workshops, financial literacy seminars, and U.S. citizenship classes.
Join in the celebration and learn about and celebrate the cultures and traditions of the Philippines and the experiences of Filipino-Americans.
