A lot of research goes into writing about the dog world. It is always surprising to learn what a small world we truly live in; witnessing links to those animal advocates that really make a difference.
Earlier this year, Michele C. Hollow of Pet News and Views wrote an article about Buzz Miller, the Founder of PACT for Animals, but when more was discovered about this inspirational organization, it was also discovered that Michael Arms, President and CEO of Helen Woodward Animal Center (HWAC) and many others are also involved in keeping this organization alive and thriving. It was great to see what PACT was all about!
PACT began in 2010; a journey that would lead companion animals on their search for rescue and fostering. Like other animal rescue organizations, PACT is truly committed to educating, assisting and engaging the general public, shelters and other rescue organizations on the well-being of both companion animals and their pet parents.
PACT’s board of Directors and advisors provide invaluable direction and a goal-oriented vision due to their diverse backgrounds.
The Board of Directors consists of the following individuals:
· Founder and President, Buzz Miller
· Michael Arms, President and CEO of Helen Woodward Animal Center
· Journalist, Jane Biberman
· Dr. Alvin J. Chin, MD; Attending Cardiologist of The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP), Professor of Pediatrics at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania
· Freelance Writer, Kathryn (Kit) Levy Feldman
· Major General John L. Gronski
· Dr. Jennifer F. Johnson, DVM
· Photographer Sabina Louise Pierce
PACT for Animals also has two very diverse advisors:
· Child Educator Catherine Marchand and
· Business Consultant Gerald B. Shreiber
By having such diverse individuals involved in PACT, better, very well-rounded and different (for lack of a better term) ideas are suggested. This is why their goal was established as ‘PACT for Animals is working towards the goal of having ZERO companion animals unwillingly submitted to animal shelters due to a temporary military or medical crisis.’
The acronym PACT stands for People + Animals = Companions Together. Their mission was established to provide programs that will benefit companion animals and their pet parents.
This kindly group of individuals works together, knowing the power of the human-animal bond. They work diligently to protect that bond. The passionate group is continually growing with other animal lovers reaching out to support their efforts. They recognize the connection that exists between a person and their pet and know that that connection goes way beyond life’s temporary and quite unpredictable crises and that is why they are constantly expanding their network; reaching out as more and more individuals become aware of their good work and join them in protecting that most important human-animal bond by fostering companion animals and providing whatever other support is required to help people and pets in need.
Stay tuned as more information is revealed about PACT and how they are working toward their goal of having the world be one where ZERO beloved companions are unwillingly surrendered to shelters simply because of a temporary military or medical crisis!
