Noel Gallagher has predicted that pop boyband One Direction has only “five years left” to live as a popular boyband according to a Tuesday, June 2 report from Gossip Cop. Gallagher stated his prediction on Monday night’s “Late Late Show” interview with James Corden. Gallagher talked about Zayn Malik’s quitting the band, claiming he did not understand the sudden move from Malik when in his opinion, the band only has a short period left of pop music relevance.
“I can’t understand why he would do it because they’ve only got, at most, five years left,” Gallagher said. He went on to offer up what he feels is the best advice for 1D at this time, according to him that is. Gallagher said of the band. “Just stand in the back, smoke weed, get laid and pick the check up.” The musician did reiterate sound financial advice to go alongside his cheeky rockstar wisdom: “He should get himself a good accountant.” Last month Noel called Zayn Malik a “f***ing idiot” for quitting in an interview with Rolling Stone.
In 2013, the rocker dissed One Direction for making “banal pop music,” adding “Bless ’em. Bless ’em, but f*ck ’em at the same time.” Not quite sure what Gallagher has against One Direction but despite his rude and nasty opinionated comments Liam Payne recently performed an Oasis song while on vacation. One Direction also stated of their upcoming album that it will be “a bit Oasis-y” in sound. Since Zayn Malik’s departure from One Direction, several rumors have surfaced stating that Harry Styles would be the next to leave, and that fighting has broken out amongst the remaining band members. However the rumors have been shot down by One Direction members, who claim all is well and things are running smoothly.
As previously reported, Zayn Malik made sure to take all the necessary steps to remove himself even further from his former boy band brand One Direction. 1D fans were in tears after learning that Zayn has removed the 1D from his Twitter handle. Malik confirmed his departure from One Direction in March citing that he needed more personal time free from the hectic tour and recording schedule that One Direction demanded. Coincidentally, Zayn Malik’s surprise exit from One Direction also corresponded with relationship troubles between Zayn and fiance Perrie Edwards. What are your thoughts, could Noel Gallagher be right about One Direction only having five more years to live, or is there something deeper stemming from his remarks, perhaps a little boyband envy?
